So a week before I left the states my dentist gave me some antibiotics for my wisdom teeth because they were infected. He said to take them but if they start hurting again I'd have to get them taken out. Well, they KILL. and I think I have a cavity.

Anyway, I'm terrified to see a dentist here. Was wondering if anyone knows of a good English speaking dentist. I'm in Jeollanamdo- can get to Gwangju.

thanks!

If it's that bad, you should get them extracted immediately. I went to the dentist all by myself in Gwangju. I went specifically to Chonnam University's Dental Clinic. The guy who extracted both of my wisdom teeth didn't clean my teeth before the procedure...

Because of that, I found out a few months ago I had decay (which was taken care of as soon as it was discovered) and recently found out I have a cavity (my first one Sad, that too was taken care of before it progressed into something more). It's so important to get those things checked out, because it could mean a lot of pain down the road!

Go to Chonnam University, specifically here: 전남대학교 치과 (Chonnam Dae Hak Gyo Chi Gwa). Make sure you say you want a cleaning before the extraction. For both of my right side teeth, it cost 41,000 won (that includes with a visit to the pharmacy). And because it's a university hospital someone will speak English. Bus route 30 and 26...cabbing it from the bus terminal should be less than 8,000 won. I lived in Gwangju last year.

Good luck!

thank you soooo much!

do you by any chance know what time theyre open until?

If i do need to get them extracted (no doubt I will-I've been postponing this and now they hurt like mothers), I have a feeling my co-teacher will be a little b*tch about time off.

Did you take time off for healing and whatnot? If so, how many days?? Were they understanding at work?

Thank you

Fremchie...I went this past Saturday to Heo Nam GI in Gwangju to get my wisdom tooth extracted....the guy is amazing!!! Thank you so much for reccomending him. He is super nice too in helping me find his office/get home safely. He took down my email- sent me directions to his place. Kept me in his office for an hour after the procedure was complete to make sure there wasnt too much bleeding where he played me music in english & had his staff escort me to the taxi.

Just overall nice guy and I felt absolutely no pain the next day. Agree with you that he's a true prof!

Anyone in need of dental care should def consider going to this guy.
-Thanks again

Is it weird that I'm 23.5 years old and not even a hint of wisdom teeth has occurred?

All depends on the person

I only had my bottom wisdoms grow, no top ones.

My mum was a dental technician a long time ago, they had an 83 year old man come in saying his dentures were uncomfortable. A third set of teeth were coming through. Shocked

Remember folks, since wisdom teeth extraction isn't voluntary (if you're in pain and need them out) you get to use your sick days.

You guys are lucky.

Mine was all inflamed & infected.

I got them out saturday and came to work Monday. When i said i only felt pain and was gushing blood on the 1.5 hour home (no stiches) so I was crying on the bus, I got laughed at. I wonder what they would've done if i asked to use my sick days.

Anyone have a rough estimate on the cost of getting two taken out? I'm probably going to the guy in Gwangju since I live near there.

I have two on opposites that need to come out. I'm pretty sure one is impacted.

I'm just trying to get a rough cost idea so I can budget for the dentist and getting new glasses.

If you go to him and you have insurance, it'll cost you around $50 for both teeth I think. Wisdom teeth are $25 each with insurance- without they're $100 I believe. Cavities arent covered by insurance and theyre $60 and cleaning is $50.

I promise you, he's amazing. My brother was in bed for a full week after he got his removed so i was terrified. I went to this guy and felt NOTHING. he's amazing.
