|
|
When debating whether to get an iPhone or Android (Galaxy S), it struck me that although the iPhone offers Facetime for free video calls (which only works over wifi), the Fring app is available for Android and allows video calls over wifi AND 3G, where the 3G operator allows.
So I'm wondering, do the Korean operators allow video calling with Fring over 3G? Has anyone tried this? |

Tried it. Couldn't make it work. Got as far as having friends who also installed Fring in my Fring contacts, but then there didn't seem to be an option for a video call.
The Galaxy S does video calls over 3G anyway.....so Fring wasn't actually needed by me...it was iPhone-owning friends who wanted to try it. None of them got it working. Waste of time. |

Thanks for the info. I know the Galaxy S does video calls over 3G, but those calls aren't free are they? |

Not sure. They might be included in the however many minutes free call time you get. |

It's not free and doesn't use your monthly minutes. It costs 3 won per second (180 won/minute). It's also not exclusive to the Galaxy S or Android. You can call any phone that supports video calls, which in Korea is almost any relatively recent phone. |
