Hi all,

Has anyone been to the Myanmar Embassy in Seoul, and if so, was it to apply for a visa?

I will be traveling there mid-January. Up until September, visas on arrival were no problem in Yangon - but they have been suspended due to the recent election. Nobody seems to know if this rule will ever be reinstated. I also read that once you are granted a 30 day visa, it starts the day your visa is processed - meaning it might be useless applying for one in Seoul.

Anyhow, if anybody has any information on this subject, I'd love to hear it! Thanks in advance.

I applied for mine in Seoul. It begins on the day you enter the country and you get 28 days, but you can always overstay if you want for something like $2-3 a day. So, unless the rules have changed since last winter, that's how it works. Make sure you bring copies of your flights and have a hotel booked when you go in.

Great - thanks for your reply. I'm hoping that the rules have stayed the same. Since the election a few days ago, the country has announced a 90 day state of emergency, though I'm not sure how this will affect travelers.

Do you happen to remember the times they offer visa processing? How did you find out when you could go in? I have emailed an email I found on a website, but have not received a reply from the embassy.
