hey you guys are funny.
Its a bit low making cracks about something like remembering the fallen heores of the first and second world wars. Theres not many people left now who fought and they deserve our respect.
Go and have a look around ypes or dachau sometime and see how funny that is or any of the thousands of graveyards around the world.
And then go and take the 'water' out of your grandparents about the second world war and see how hard they are laughing.
I sickened that you think this is something to make fun of. |

What is it with americans?
You have to make some smart arse, wise crack about everything or belittle someone elses beliefs with ignorant comments?
I happen to believe quite strongly about this subject after having seen the effects of war first hand. I also believe that the younger generation may perhaps forget about the sacrifices made (now and 50+ years ago) if they are not reminded of them.
please learn some respect. |

I apologize. I had no idea what "poppy day" was: I thought it was some cutesy term for Father's Day. |

I'm with you on this.
Anyone making jokes about this, go and see the battlefields in France/Belgium. You will very quickly change your facetious attitude towards this subject when you see the thousands of crosses, and when you hear the stories from the Great War. |

Respect? On teh interwebs? I LOL'd!!!
Then I serious'd.
Veteran's Day in the US was this past Thursday. Lost my grandfather this past year -- a veteran of WW2 (china, oss) and Korea. Didn't make it to the funeral because of being in Korea. That was tough.
I love telling Koreans that my grandfather fought here -- I'm proud as hell. |

And not only that - if you tried taking the piss out of their 'memorial day' this thread would be 12 pages long of self righteous whining about how everyone would be fluent in German and you would be banned.
It is about time others showed some respect. |
