Hey everyone! I did a search for this but there are so many threads regarding criminal background checks I couldn't find the answer...so sorry if it's out there.

My husband and I have previously taught in Korea for 4 years and are returning soon under the new visa requirements. It is my understanding that the new requirements may not take effect until Jan. 2012 now BUT...this is not my questions.

We just sent in our fingerprints to the FBI last week. Has anyone received their criminal background check back from the FBI yet, and if so, HOW LONG DID IT TAKE EXACTLY.

I'm trying to gauge if we'll have it back before January or not. I know they say "up to 12 weeks." I'm only interested in those of you who recently submitted yours and how long it took (number of weeks).

Call your congressperson's office. Clearly explain why it's important that it's expedited, and maybe that other countries take less than a month, and then request assistance in having your check expedited. I received mine, in S. Korea, 3 weeks after the FBI received the prints (I called after 1).
