I finally decided to make the leap and get a system here and decided on the Xbox 360. I'm going to get the Xbox 360 slim with 250GB. So what I'm wondering is, which is better to get, a Korean Xbox 360 or US Xbox 360 (from playasia.com)? I'm also planning on getting the Kinect when it comes out here. So from looking at previous posts, here are the pros and cons as I understand them:

US Xbox: able to get all games but at a higher price (must order newest ones/some sports games online), needs a power converter, US games (or at least non region) available at Yongsan but a bit of delay in getting there, region restriction not a problem from games online but maybe a problem for games bought in Yongsan

Korean Xbox: less of a hassle to get it, cheaper games which are for the most part in English although some may have Korean voice overs, some sports games not available for it (not a big sports game fan, so this doesn't apply too much for me), easier/more convenient repair I'm assuming, no problem with region restriction in Yongsan but a problem with some games not being released for this region

Anyways, that's what I gathered from the earlier posts. Let me know if I missed something or if I'm wrong on one of these points. I'm leaning at the moment towards getting a Korean Xbox 360S but I still haven't made my mind up. Just looking to get some advice from experienced Xbox 360 users.

It really doesn't matter anymore.

Most games are not region-locked anymore, so you can purchase games here for an US Xbox 360 just as easily as you could for a Korean Xbox 360. In other words, the games would not be more expensive than a US system. The exception to that is games that are not available, or hard to find, in English. These games are also few and far between.

Then again it is better to be safe then sorry. I have a Korea Xbox 360 but it is better to have a US version just in case a game comes out that is region-locked and only available in Korea, or in some cases Japanese, like the Final Fantasy games (though I am not sure if that particular game is region-locked; I am just using it as a potential example).

Then again, I bought the Xbox 360 slim so that I could play Fable 3. I beat it in a week. It is the only game not also available on the PS3 that I know of. Most games now are available on both systems. If I had it to do again I would have bought the PS3 since online play is free on a PS3 but $5/month on Xbox Live. PS3 also has God of War and Uncharted which is not available on the Xbox 360.

Something to think about.

The 360 has exclusives like Halo, Gears of War, and Fable. The PS3 has exclusives like Metal Gear Solid 4, Demon's Souls (best game of the generation IMO), and God of War. There are other exclusives for both systems (left4dead on 360, valkyria chronicles/wipeout on ps3) but system exclusivity is generally dying out. Personally, I prefer the exclusives on the PS3, I use the blu-ray player a lot, and I don't consistently game enough to make paying for online features worth it. However, this is not a flamethread or anything so since you're getting a 360, my friend who was here for 2 years got an American 360 and shipped it here, saying that it was for the best in the long run. He's been happy, so I guess I'll throw my hat in the ring for US 360.

Just be aware that there will be a hefty customs tax on that U.S. xbox when it comes into the country. That, with the premium you'll pay at Playasia makes the purchase a lot more expensive. I'm not sure what the customs is, but I've read on the forums that people are paying 43K on a $139 kindle from abroad.
