hey

i got really sick yesterday, probably some food poisoning or something.

i'm not going to get into particulars of my symptoms because they're too disgusting to post... but it was a long, dreary night.

but is there a korean kaopectate or any other sort of anti-diahrrea med? also, i'd like to buy rehydration salts if this happens to me in summer...

any info?

Some precautions to getting food poisoning:

Don't eat street meat. (Street vendor stuff) - a lesson learned from massive experience

Don't trust Pizza Hut...the grease will give ya the "excuse me I need to use the restroom, where is it?" syndrome faster than you expect.

If you go to a pharmacy ask for meds for food poisoning.

I have several tablets of Immodium I brought with me. I will sell them to you for 100,000 won each.

I also have a bottle of Tums. I will sell Tums tablets at the price of 25,000 per half-tablet. These are fruit flavoured.

Also, Korean draft beer (Saeng Mekju) will give it to you something rotten the next day. Worse than beer normally does.

Lomotil, 4 tabs to start with and then 2 every 4 hours till symptoms disappear. I think you can but them over the counter (i.e. without a prescription) here.

I'm a big fan of Kaomagma for a big case of the squirts, but it tastes like liquid chalk!

Still, it does the job, pretty quick. :)

while you are recovering, you should also watch your diet
some foods will solidify your shit and others will make your problem worse-

good foods:
banana, rice, applesauce, toast(no butter)

bad foods:
fats and oils, dairy products, chocolate, orange juice

I just took a phrase book into a chemist and pointed to the word.... much easier then trying to pronounce diarrhoea at the top of your voice in korean. Embarassed

Be careful with the instruction though. I thought I was taking the correct amount but 2 days later I was blocked up like you wouldn't believe. At least the guy behind the counter had a good laugh when I went back into the chemist this time needing laxatives.

kaomagma?

i'm sure that it's probably the same thing as kaopectate... that garbage tastes like chalk but it fixes you up as if someone crammed a dozen sticks of chalk in your lil' squirter. i'll check it out, thanks.
