hello
I have been doing the hagwon thing for a couple of years and now would like to move to either a uni or public school
My current contract doesn't finish until the back end of march which is quite unfortunate as the unis and public schools all seem to be advertising for a march 1st start.
Anyone with experience of this kind of situation? Is there any chance of me finding something that starts a bit later?
Kind regards

Yes, use that time until March to study your past participles. You might need to know them in a uni job. |

Public school's often hire in March (direct hires) when they don't get an assigned teacher from the government program (EPIK/GEPIK) to start their school year.
It will be harder to find something in Seoul.
Much easier to find something in Gyeonggi-do.
If you don't have any contacts in the PS system you will need to use a recruiter. Start talking to them in February and have a new set of documents in hand (they will want them for a PS start even if immigration doesn't).
Your chance of landing something in a uni (as a late start) would be slim to "0" unless you have a (related) MA/PhD.

Also, if you've been here a while then you shouldn't fret about breaking a contract. Give your proper notice, get the release letter, forfeit the severance and get something now. |
