a whole line up of cameras probably not... Maybe release one or 2 new ones next year possibly. Maybe an upgrade to the 5d mark II finally...
Well if they are canon lenses they should fit the newer cameras but there might be some vignetting depending on the camera you buy and also you might not be able to autofocus which means itll be pretty much useless for taking images of fast moving objects. But you lenses will still be great to do manual photography.
I'd be curious what your budget is / plan to spend on this camera? If you plan to buy any new lenses and what not? |
I have never been a semi pro photographer I once learned a little about F stops and apertures when I first bought my SLR in 1993, I never really got into the full functions of it, was a neat camera, a Sigma camera with a stock 28-200mm lens, took some great pics with it, mostly in Auto. LOL
so once digital cameras came out around 2000 I bought my first one and pretty much just used that. I traveled the world with my SLR and digital point and shoot canon which took great pictures, I also used my SLR for telephoto shots due to the lens, and well frankly I just wanted to finally use it around the world, hehe, happy I did, got some great pics from it
I still don't know about its functions, I lost the manual long time ago.
I have a very keen interest in photography and I have a great eye for composition so I have been told. so I want a camera which I will learn with, and be able to take great pictures with, Blurry shots due to slight movement are doing my head in! my dogs just can't be photographed running around with my digital dica. and my children running around, jumping, forget it.. so I have to upgrade now.
my budget.. well I dont want to spend thousands on a mark11 or something like this.. I don't want to spend over 2 million won for a body.
I can justify spending 1.5 for a body if I know I can use this camera for the next 10-20 years and still take great pics with it.
I mean my grandfather takes awesome pics with his camera and his cameras are 50 years old.. I know its the man behind the camera not so much the camera. otherwise every picture from 30 years ago would be garbage right? I have prints in my house from 100 years ago which are awesome black n whites.
I shoot landscapes mostly, so I will buy a nice wide angle lens, and I want to shoot the kids sports games, birds in motion, perhaps shots from a moving train or car. now this is where I am not sure what I need.
a fast lens or a camera with a fast FPS?? a camera with 3fps and a fast lens is fine??? or do I need a camera with 5+fps? all I know is, if I get a blurred image of my son running I might smash the camera on the ground hahahahahahaha
I am going to join one of the many photography clubs here in seoul and travel and learn with my new toy.
2 million won is about all I want to spend on my first kit. but I can also spend 1 million or 500.000 won for second hand gear if thats all I really need for now. I'M torn. |

OK that gives me a pretty good idea of what you want it for. When you were talking about moving objects i thought about sports photography but I can see you're more on the casual side then the professional. I dont think you'll use any DSLR body for 10-20 years 0_o. You will and can use lenses for that long and much longer . As for the blurriness of action shots it all has to do with the settings you put your camera at. Especially shutter speed. Faster the shutter the less blurry moving objects will be althought the faster the shutter less light comes in soo youll have to adjust the aperture ( F stop .. which is why you need FAST expensive lenses =p) and ISO. Also you can set everything up in automatic and setup the camera in different automatic focus settings to automatically focus on moving objects no matter how random it is.
In anycase pretty much any DSLR will do for your need. So If i were you I would either get the 550 or the 60d and learn how to use those. Invest your money in nice fast wide angle/ wide angle zoom lenses and a nice tripod. I think for your needs a 7d or 5d would be overkill unless you REALLY REALLY need the faster fps which i suspect you dont. also the 7d body is bigger and heavier than the 60d or 550. |

From your first post, I assumed that you were a semi-pro photographer making the transition from film to digital. I guess not!
The sigma could work, providing it's autofocus. I might be wrong, but you might be able to get the Sigma lens re-chipped to work with a DSLR. Maybe someone could confirm this? Failing that, Canon do a 18-200mm lens which covers the same range, and comes with anti-shake. Grab a Tokina 12-24mm, and a fast prime, and you are sorted! |
