Me and some friends were in Chengdu this summer and got to try Chinese or Szechuan Hot Pot. One of them is leaving Asia soon and thought it would be good to try find a restaurant that serves this before he leaves. Does anyone know of a place in Seoul or West Seoul that we could find some good hot pot? Also, do they have an extensive menu? We are adventorous eaters and like to try just about anything.

Look no further than Bulia. http://bulia.co.kr/

Accept no substitutes. I'm a hot pot aficionado as well, and no other place in Korea stacks up to this one. They have a few locations, but the Hongdae branch is my favorite.

Exit 1, turn right down the alley. Walk about 40 meters and it'll be on your left.

They've got those there.

not a cheap place by any means though. good meal, lamb and beef, lots of sauces, but you'll pay

I know for sure they have Tsingtao, along with other types of Chinese liquor. Main course runs about 18,000 per head and includes veggies, mushrooms, tofu, potatoes, pumpkin, noodles, and a serving of either beef or lamb. There are several options to add on as well.

I warn you though...the place is addictive.

Also, the menu is all in Korean and Chinese, so if your Korean isn't that hot you might want to bring along a native speaker to smooth things over. The manager in the Hongdae branch speaks decent enough English, though.

Jesus, as soon as anything foreign is served or sold anywhere there's always a standard, arbitrary 10,000 won 'this is foreign food' tax on top of the actual cost and profit.

It is rather pricey, but it's worth it.

I've tried other (cheaper) options around the city and walked out. In some cases, straight to Bulia because my craving wasn't satisfied.

well we kind of realize we will pay, but sometimes when your craving something no price is too much. sure it wont be as dirt cheap as in chengdu with the spread we got but it will hold me over til i can go back again.
