Hello,

Thanks to all of you who have answered my previous post "My two dads." Right now I have two people both claiming to be my boss and the owner of the establishment. I am on an E-2 visa status with one of these people. Apparently, a change of status in ownership negates my status, but with the original owner still telling me that he owns the place, there is not much I can do to try and contest this. Except, I was thinking about changing my visa status, on my own, at my own expense, to a status where I can continue to work and live exactly as I do now, except without having to worry about immigration, AND/OR can allow me to change employers without leaving the country. I work 30 hours a week. Is this possible? If so, what do I need to do? Thanks again!

If you want to work legally in Korea, you have to worry about immigration. You and your employer should complete appropriate forms at immigration. You are tied to one of your owners.

Once your visa status is fixed, your employer is also required to complete final paperwork and register you at the local education board. Until you have the Alien registration card, it could be extremely difficult to attend a Korean clinic for medical help, as you would not have the required documentation of your residency status.
