Hey.
I'm in Canada awaiting my next return to Korea. I'm pretty deep in student loan dept which is my main motivator in returning to Korea and my goal this time is quite a bit different than it was when I first went.
My first tour of Korea knocked down my debt quite a bit but I still have a ways to go and that time, I went to Korea with no real concrete plan for the rest of my life.
Being back in Canada and talking to friends gave me a clearer sense of purpose for my return... mainly, coming back to this country and not working minimum wage but instead working in something that pays well and is interesting in equal measures.
When I first looked into distance education I only looked at MAs. I figured that I already have a degree and I should continue that path. Lately, I've been thinking about what I'm interested in and am considering doing something (a diploma, a certificate) that is straight-forward suited to trade training and employment, not something that won't do anything for me and land me back in Korea again.
This means that I'm looking at community colleges and colleges now.
My trip home and my survey of the land proved that working in Canada is as bleak (if not more) than I pictured and wrote about on these forums. The thing is, the people I do know that make the most money and seem to be doing the best professionally are those with trade training and not those like me with university degrees/massive debt.
I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find data on employment statistics by field of study so I can match it up with a distance education course that I'm particularly interested in. I'm also wondering if anyone here is taking / has taken anything that was is / was a good gateway into actually finding a job back home. I'm particularly interested in IT and business related things.
Any input would be appreciated, thanks. |
