I've never seen one in any shop, but they gotta be around somewhere. Suggestions for the Itewan area is best, but anywhere in Seoul would make me happy. Thanks!

These Ruskie hats are cool (to look at - but are really warm to wear). They look like an aviators' hat (with flaps). Some are made of thick cloth, some are synthetic, and some have fur or synthetic padded linings/fur trim.

You can buy really expensive ones at Lottie Dept store (in the Colombia hiking section = 70,000 won (ouch)).

You can also buy them at any Korean traditional market. I just bought a black synthetic ruskie hat for 8,000 won at the local market. Some are 10,000 won.

Sadly, they don't seem to sell the 'farmers' version these days in Korea (heavy leather outer and thick synthetic inner (with a moveable front flap).

Keep warm this winter.

Hat vendors on the Itaewon main drag usually carry a couple of varieties.

Your other best bet would be Namdaemun and Dongdaemun markets. Tons of options there.

I'm sure you'll find some in the Russian-owned shops near Exit 5 of Dongdaemun Stadium.....as well as all the other goodies in the Russian shops like good cheese, sausage, and fantastic bread......oh yeah, high-quality vodka!

I saw a few different colors/styles in Itaewon from the street vendors last week. I also so some outside AK Plaza in Seohyeon in Bundang. Should be easy to find now that it is getting colder outside.

Great advice guys, thanks. I've been looking around but have not seen any yet. Might go high end and spend some money or just get a decent synthetic but either way its a must-buy before the end of the month. Thanks again.

Street vendors in Myeongdong have them, as does Forever 21 (also in Myeongdong). Shouldn't have any problem finding one.

I went to Lotte Dept store yesterday and saw the expensive versions in the sports sectio. Kolon Sport had them for 65,000 won, and I saw them all over town in the open markets (8-10,000 won).

PS> You won't worry how goofy it looks if we get a real winter.

I could be wrong about this, but somewhere (was it a movie?) I heard someone say that the white fox fur is supposed to be the best. Anyone know?
