One thing I am unhappy with is the fact that EPIK is asking for all original apostilled docs of which I will not get back. they say I should order duplicates so I have additional docs for my records. i do not like this at all. everything required thus far has coast me over $300. i can't keep getting originals at this cost.
When you order the FBI check in Virgina have them sign and put an FBI seal on your report. With this sealed and signed document you should be able to have your secretary of state apostille it. I haven't actually gotten to this point yet. However, this is what they tell me. |

lahoang, I actually know a lady that works for the congressman, she is trying her best for me, not sure if it will help or not yet though.
You guys were talking about this, but I'm still a little unsure; do we need to send the FBI check to our state secretary of state, or the national one in D.C.? You said some states allow this document to be notarized but others don't, right? So if they allow the notary in my state, I can notarize it then send it in to my state's SoS?
Also, lahoang, my recruiter is saying that they don't need actual copies of anything, just scans. I wonder if this applies to the later items like the apostilled diploma, or not. I wonder if they'll just want me to send those items directly to EPIK?
*edit
p.s. (sorry for all the ridiculous questions, but it's hard getting any answers from these recruiters)
I'm working on an EPIK application with one recruiter, and a direct hire application with another. If I send my documents (more importantly, the FBI Check) to my direct hire recruiter, do I need to then retrieve the documents to give to my other recruiter, or will they be on file with the government? I'm a little concerned about how to get documents from one recruiter to another.

You definitely have an upper hand with the FBI check since you know a lady that works for the Congressman. I read in another post that someone had contacted his Congressman and he received his FBI CRC in two weeks and he is living in Korea now.
Some Secretary of States will not apostille a national document so you need to check with your SOS to see if they will. If they will then you can just send it to them to apostille, if not you will have to send it to Washington.
I'm sorry, I don't know how things work with recruiters but with EPIK you do have to send actual documents along with copies of all of those documents. The copied documents go to the immigration office where they will be permanently kept. But for your diploma, they want you to get a copy of it notarized and apostilled so that you don't have to give up your real copy. |

Thought I'd post some info since I've been asking so many questions:
I called my State's SoS, and their office said I could send my FBI CRC there to be apostilled, but I need to have it notarized and signed by my county clerk.
-State is TN |
