Twice in the past 4 years we were able to get Jan/Feb tickets to Denpasar for between 700-850,000. Now it looks like most tickets run from 1,300,000 and up. |

That looks strikingly like a Korean Air price.
Korean Air is one of the most expensive airlines in the world, if not #1. That would be the best explanation I can think of.
Fly into Kuala Lumpur on some airline (maybe Air Asia) and fly Air Asia to Bali Densapar. Much cheaper and no Korean BS. |

Yeah you should be able to do it for like 600,000. |

You can get a cheaper ticket through the Airasia.com website by flying Incheon-->Kuala Lumpur and then Kuala Lumpur-->Bali. We got ours for under 600,000 won this way.
Also, when you search on an internet search engine make sure you type in DEN for the airport code, because a friend was typing in "bali" and getting the Balipapan airport in Indonesia and confusing it with Bali. The ticket prices are significantly higher to Balipapan.
Good luck! |

How long are you staying? If you stay for under a week, you can get deals on www.072.com
Other than that, I'd say the cheapest option is Air Asia. |

I got a direct ticket from ICN to DPS over Christmas/New Years on Garuda Airlines for $545. I bought it through their website, so it's worth checking out.
I've never flown Garuda before, but I did some research and it looks like they're working hard to become a quality airline. We'll see.

I hear Garuda is banned from flying to and from Europe because of safety concerns. |

Yeah, they're pretty shady.
That said, the point that my Indo friends always make is that if you look at the crashes they've had, most of them have been on short little island hopping routes where the planes, pilots, and runways aren't going to be on par with what you'd get on a ICN-DPN flight. |

But they allow Ryanair? That's a laugh.

That's good news but Garuda flights to Bali from Incheon to Denpasar are still pricey. |

We've made the mistake of flying out of Incheon in the winter--once, but never again. Besides, there's the hassle of paying for a train or plane to Seoul, then a shuttle bus from Seoul Station or Gimpo to Incheon--it's madness.
And we'll be spending at least 2 weeks, so the 7-day thing isn't an option. |
