We can't legally work for these people and they probably can't advertise any perks they may be handing out. My guess is that you may get some free meals and/or free product. Someone who desparately wanted a job other than teaching might want to give this kind of thing a try. |

Internship is an abusive practice that's hardly unique to Korea. I remember reading an article in Reason magazine by John Stossel in which he insists that -- despite interns providing him valuable services which he claimed were necessary for his job -- there simply wasn't any money to pay them. The sheer ludicrous nature of a guy whose income is ridiculously higher than the national average saying there isn't enough money to pay interns a basic salary is hard to come to terms with.
In short, I don't see why this is worth mocking Korea over. Perhaps it's worth mocking abusive capitalist economics over, but that's not really the point you were making. |
