So I'm getting ready to move in about a month and I have a fairly big collection of 100 won coins.

I've heard that you can take these to the bank and they'll exchange them for cash.

The question I have is do you need to have them seperated or rolled? I probably have a fair amount of money worth of coins after a few months of letting them pile up but I don't know what I need to do to get cash for them.

I know it's a silly question but if you could let me know what your experiences are with this it would be appreciated.

200,000+ has been no prob at KEB or Shinhan, as long as you have an account.

Funny story: last time I took them to a smaller KEB and they told me someone would have to count them by hand and to just leave the bag o' coins. I felt sorry for the poor person counting 200k+ and I told them I would just take them to Shinhan next door where they have a machine. They insisted I leave them there for KEB to take care of. The money was deposited by close of the day. Very Happy

In the US my bank would have laughed at me and told me to go to Coinstar or threw some coin rollers at me Evil or Very Mad

Busan Bank has ATMs with coin sorters. The drawback is you need to have an account at BS Bank for it work for you.

HanaBank has a coin machine free with an account. My local KB makes you count them all by hand. Only did that once, lesson learned.

My friends use the KB near my house that has a coin machine for free. Maybe it just depends on the size of the bank?

That is a possibility as the KB I went to is brand spanking new so, it may be bank to bank.

NH has a machine, but they want you to separate the denominations. 100's together, 500s, etc.
Pulled together 80,000 today after 2 months of coinage.

Only in the stupid parts of America (like, oh, say, Alabama). Up in Wisconsin they count change for you for free. Laughing

In my home province, BC, they would roll their eyes and not your coins.. you'd be doing that yourself. So much for Canadian politeness.
