A few years ago, I had an awesome job at a private elementary school. It was great. Huge salary and months and months off. I resigned with them and that year wasn't so great. Pay cut, vacation cut, much more paper work. At the end, I thought I was done with Korea. I backpacked around Central and South Asia for the better part of this year.
After running out of funds I knew I had to head back to Seoul to stack up my bank account again. Due to the odd timing I had to take a kindy job. It's not so bad, but I can't do it again. I don't have the patience to do this much longer.
Anyways, my contract finishes in May. I'd really like to get back into a public or private elementary school again and ditch the kindy/hagwon scene.
I know most hires are for March, the beginning of the year. I'm wondering how many schools looks for new year long contracts in August, the start of the second semester? I'm sure there are some. Just wondering if someone could give me an idea.
Thankx |

Not sure what it will be like in 2011, but in years past there has always been robust hiring for the fall. I started my public Jr. High job in the Fall.
I thought it was the best time to start due to the a turn over of students the following spring. The freshmen I started with in the fall moved on to 2nd year students in the spring. A new batch of Freshmen came in. Ment I could reuse the best of the tried and true lesson plans I had started the fall with (intro. lesson, etc.), on the new group of freshman. |

You will have to wait for the recession to end.
Korea is full to bursting until US unemployment falls. |

What's TS?
I didn't quit, I contracted with that school for 2 years. After 2 years, I need a break. I ended on a positive note and that school even offered me a position the next time around they liked me so much. But timing isn't going to work out on that.
And I'd like to try to move up the ladder a bit. That was a private elementary school. I'd like to try a middle or high school. I have the experience for it. |
