Why do they eat kimchi here? Why do people drive on the right side of the road here? Why do they speak and write in Korean here?

Logic is very different and often turned around with confusing Confucius ideology in place. I can see people are not really consciously thinking of these sorts of things, but just start doing them as kids out of nonverbal teachings that is the very formation of culture. Why put day before month instead of month before day? Why bling out on putting on image first before taking care of the most basic needs like clean air free of illegal trash fire smoke? Differences in logic dictates what is and isn't common sense. Confucian logic is the very thing that still distances the East from the West farther than the actual air miles. I'm not saying it's better to say and do it my way, but to pay more attention and do what makes sound sense for the majority. There's a lot both the East and West can learn and benefit from each other. Apparently what they are doing works, because their economy is balling and the ball games are happening.

They don't but they should it makes much more sense to do it the British way.

Smallest to largest unit

OP, this took some getting used to for me too watching baseball.

The best reason I can think of is when you're batting, the main worry is strikes. So to say them first makes some sense, although an 0-3 count still sounds strange!

About the dates, the easiest, most logical way is to put the day first.

Think about it, when someone asks you the date, what's the first thing that comes to mind? "It's the 19th." It's assumed people know it's November.

When speaking, sure. What about a date written on a document?

I might not agree with your logic, but I do agree with your premise: putting the day first makes sense since, like someone else said, the date then goes from the smallest to largest unit of time.

Smallest units first:
55:2 17th, 11, 2010.

Actually, a good number of formal documents list the day first.

Think of all the diplomas and contracts that read "this ___ day of ___________, 20__."
