I'm not looking for anything in particular, but would just like people to list their favorite place to eat in Busan. If you don't mind, please list the kind of food served and what you like eating there.

I'm trying to get ideas for place to take my friend out to eat. It's kind of a special thank you dinner so I'm just looking for a place with good food. I don't live in the area so I figured I would ask people that do Very Happy

The Dolphin Restaurant (돌고래식당) is the best. It's all in Korean, including the sign out front, but just ask for soon dooboo and you won't be disappointed. I found a map here:

Japanese restaurant in the basement of this building. I'm not familiar with busan but its maybe 15 minute walk from the big Jagalchi fish market ( across from a main road in an area with LOTS of stores and small alleys. Not sure what that area is called Its next to a Bakery i think. Best food i've had in Busan. Been there twice and i crave it all the time =(.

"The Best Chicken Shack in Pusan"! Laughing Laughing

Oh, wait...think its long gone... Sad

I second Ganga as I remember it being pretty good when I was there--a rare place to get lamb.

The buffet at the Marriott wasn't bad either.

It's still there, but there's a much better place in a building in the Jangsan area with a better menu, and setting and service.

Way overrated IMHO, the nan breads are wafer-thin. I think there are some better places in the Sasang area, sorry, don't know the names.

There's a nice Italian joint on Dalmaji hill called The Kitchen. It's above an art gallery, it's kind of classy with good food, atmosphere, and overlooks the ocean. Nice place to take a date, have a birthday, or something low-key that you want to remember.

Have to say, the Korean food in Busan isn't great, it's way better in Jeollanam-do, had some brilliant kalbi-sal BBQ's with heaps of banchan over there.

You need to get to know some locals, they know where the local gems are. For example, there's an awesome makkoli bar decked out in full traditional Korean style run by an ajumma who helps halmoni who have been abandoned by their kids. Artists and uni professors hang out there drinking makkoli and eating tofu and kimchi hand made by the halmoni; they are the sorts of places you should seek out.

I'm always a sucker for good Italian food, I might wind up checking out this place. How was the pricing?

We really liked 3 restaurants when we visited:

1. OASE Seafood Buffet at the Jagalchi Fish Market
http://oasebusan.co.kr/
It was about 30,000 won per person for all of the sushi, seafood, steak, entrees, salads and desserts you can eat. Everything was prepared very well and aside from a few dishes we enjoyed everything.

2. The Basement Food Court at Shinsegae
http://www.ansananswers.com/restaurants/shinsegae.html
I have never been to such a quality food court before, anywhere in the world. We dined on some delicious sushi, dim sum and dakkochi. They also had an amazing ice cream crepe cone that is definitely worth checking out. We've got a video of it here:

3. Amby's Russian Cusine
http://www.ansananswers.com/restaurants/ambys.html
One word: goulash. Their menu is diverse, but everything is affordable. They're located right across from Busan Station in China/Russia town.

Enjoy!
