My girlfriend and I are planning on getting married in Korea. We're both UK citizens. We understand the procedure and costs. The only thing we're unsure of is if there is a local office which we can get married in that is close to the British embassy?

Any info would be great.

If you are not marrying a Korean there's no point in doing the wedding hall thing. It's very expensive and short.

Yeah, we're not having an actual ceremony. We just need to find the closest local government office to the embassy that can sign our paperwork.

If my memory serves me correct, isn't the UK embassy right across from City Hall? Just remember seeing the sign walking through the area.

The local gu office is not too far from there. It is the same one that is close to the US embassy.

Directions to the gu office from your embassy. (Just looked it up on google maps.)
1) Go to the main road. You will be looking at City Hall. Turn left.
2) At the main intersection, go to the corner catty-corner to you (Kyobo building)
3) Walk towards the U.S. embassy or Gyeongbukgung Palace if not sure where U.S. embassy is.
4) Turn down the street right before the U.S. embassy (will see a riot tank).
5) Go down until the intersection, cross it.
6) The gu office is right there on your left.

Will take 15 minutes to walk there maximum.
