A guy I've been put in touch with through a mutual acquaintance back home is here to train and play Starcraft tournaments. He's on a tourist visa, I'm a student on a D2 and was an E2 for years before that.

He's been having trouble signing up for a Starcraft account and says he can't use his account from back home. He asked me the other day if he could use my registration number to sign up. I told him that alien numbers don't have all the priveliges that citizens' numbers have and doubted this would work -and might be in Korean if it did, he's fresh off the boat - but he seems to have been told that it is feasible. I'm not crazy about making an account and letting him use it but if it's risk-free and that's the only option I'd consider it. He said he'll pay any costs involved.

He already has a SC account (or SCII if that's different, he's up to date anyway), presumably a UK one if they are regional. I read the thread which talks about switching regions but don't know much about how it all works. he usually plays in a specific PC bang which specializes in SC that he's been put in touch with. He's been using the PC bang owners account there, and seems to get a generic log-in when he goes out for tourneys. What advice would you give to someone in his situation?

He needs a Korean Starcraft 2 account to play on Korean servers. So, he needs to get a Korean to register and he uses their ID.

If he has a UK ID, then he can go out and buy himself a PC and play SC2 on UK Servers from his home anytime he wants.

Foreign IDs work with Battle.Net -- you may need to register an i-pin first, I don't remember which I used.

My friend and I both have US and Korean battle.net accounts. They are not interchangeable; to play on both servers you need a copy of the game registered on each or be in a pc bang.

You will need to register for an i-pin, since your ARC number wont work. Go to:

Its free and in English. However, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you answer all the questions as carefully as possible. This is hard because of the forced capitalization and lower case for different fields. Once you finish the registration, sign in, but only click ONCE; it takes a while to load and it locks up after a certain number of tries (it says 5, but its less). If you take the time to make sure you enter all the information correctly, you'll have an ipin. From there its just going to the battle.net page and signing up. You can change the korean page to english by going to the bottom right of the page and clicking "한국"

I-Pin works with G-pin. I've set up my Starcraft KO-kr account with an ARC.
