In the event of an actual war, teachers living in most parts of the country would be fine. Seoul might get demolished in the early hours of the conflict, and it's possible teachers living right along the Northern border would be at risk, but South Korean and United States technological superiority would quickly push the fight into North Korea.
The question you should be asking yourself is: how likely is the area I'm in to be an initial target? If you're in Seoul, yes, you're probably in some danger, but that's also the area where you'd be most likely to be able to reach help from your government too. For people in the greater portion of the rest of the country, I don't think there's too much to worry about in terms of personal safety. |

Not entirely sure I agree with that.
A Euro fighter (just to use an example of modern weaponry) can get to an altitude of 35,000 feet in 2 minutes and fly at a speed of 1,320mph.
It could get half way round the world before its shot down so crossing from North korea to Busan wont be a problem. The Korean fighters can cover that distance in minutes, let alone the rockets.
A typical plane in the korean war was a F-51 whose top speed was somewhere around 500 mph.
Its going to be a very different war if it kicks off. |

No, the funny(scary) part is that people who don't pay attention to politics or world events hear a news story and start making moral judgments about people. But hey, stupid people are stupid right?
In all seriousness, I can finally thank Faux News for something. Every potential teacher they scare off increases my job security. |

I hate to follow up one post with another, but the North won't start the war. If a war occurs, it will begin with SK and the US destroying every gun emplacement aimed at Seoul and every runway in NK. |

Actually the Korean war sorties pitted the F-86 against the MIG-15, both of which had max airspeeds in the upper 600 mph range. |

If you want to get technical the Cheonan was a corvette, not a destroyer |

the problem with that "plan" is that the Nork artilley is in many cases extremely well hidden and protected, if not encased into actual mountains.
Though of Stalinist vintage, it's close enough to Seoul, so that it could indeed turn most of the north of the Han River into a "sea of fire".
other than their several nukes, those are the only trump cards the Norks hold. |
