I like the buildings with heated floors. I'd love to work some day in a school that had heated floors that everyone could sit on.
I used to be puzzled at why they open the windows and turn up the heat. It didn't take long to figure it out. Try working with a group of kids who have been running around and sweating before coming to your class. You'll open the windows too. But really, unless the room has hot air ducts with good filters in them, then closing the windows makes the same old air just continue to circulate. The other big problem is that the walls and windows aren't insulated anyway. Open or closed, the windows are only a part of the reason that the rooms are cold. Those bare cement walls suck the heat of the rooms. |

Korean kids need some middle American mothers to say the following:
Shut that door/window! We can't afford to heat the great outdoors!
This is a classroom, not a playground, take off those coats!
If you're dressed for a blizzard in October, how will you stay warm in February? |
