I'm in the process of changing hagwons and I've received a job offer from Talking Club. Has anyone had any experience with this company? They seem like a pretty good outfit. Sorry if this has been asked before, the search doesn't seem to work. Thanks. |

Depends on the owner. Some are ok, some aren't. |

I have a general question: Why do 55 people click on this thread and only one person bothers to leave a remark? I've always hated that. That's like asking a question in a room and everyone looks at you like your missing a nose. Just wondering. But thanks for the person who DID respond. I was thinking about looking in Daegu or Daejeon. Anyone worked there? How is it, in both cities? |

That's because it's a hagwan chain, and like all others there are good and bad ones....depending on the managment.
No one can really give you any specifics unless you tell them the exact location of the school in question.
There are probably 5-10 talking clubs that would be in those 2 cities,
Which one? |

I'm going to guess that those people (like me) haven't had any experience with Talking Club and didn't want to muck up the thread by posting "No, never heard of them."
Oh, and I've never worked in Daegu or Daejeon either. Best of luck to you though. |

i worked for EBY talking club.the kiddy levels had terrible books. the flash cards were too small and had to be printed out by teacher. such woulda been barely tolerable but my branch didn't have a printer for such use. they'll seemingly sell a franchise to anyone, including those who cannot form a single coherent sentence. as with all chains, it is hit and miss.
i went up to seoul for their teacher training seminar. which was, of all my years in asia, the single biggest waste of time encountered. the trainers had never been teachers and we created no less than five lesson plans (but were never evaluated on such). |

Back when I started my job search I was offered a contract with them-I can't remember which branch-but there was so, so much illegal stuff on that contract. No pension, no health care, no sick days, I think just 5 vacay days and a whole bunch of other bad stuff. I think I still have the contract if you'd like to see it, PM me.
On another note, the director of the school who emailed me the contract now sends me spam emails about twice a week. |
