| So, a few friends and I are headed for the stereotypical trip out to Phuket and will be in Ko Phi Phi for a few days. We are really wanting to do a camping trip or something thats a bit off the beaten track. We have stumbled upon Maya Bay & Bamboo Island as two possibilities. Anyone have any ideas or experience with either of the two? I would be very interested in hearing your thoughts or input. |

| I don't know anything about Bamboo Island but Maya bay is very much on the beaten path. The movie "The Beach" was filmed there and now many many tourists flock there everyday. I've been there an it is beautiful though and you can camp there. Just don't expect there to not be dozens of other idiot westerners there doing the same thing. |

| I've been to both places and I would suggest Bamboo Island over Maya Bay for reasons already mentioned. Maya Bay is a very small space...at least with Bamboo Island you'll proabably find some escape from the crowds. |
