Right.... And what alternative do you suggest? You think I should just sign up for the mystical Verizon carrier in Korea? |

What's your def of slow? Im getting 4mbps on my nexus one most of the time... korean sites are zippy. Daum street maps is just a tad slower than my notebook. Only when im in a heavily youngster-populated place like shinchon will 3g take a hit. If you have an Android, you may want to look up upgrading the radio firmware |

The 3G slows down to a crawl during rush hour. That's a given when you have over 1 million people all using data on their way home.
However, yesterday around 4pm on a saturday afternoon it was downright unusable. Loading a google search took 5 minutes. A 1 minute youtube clip wouldn't even play. I tried for like 15 minutes. Took around 15 minutes to put up my OP. I went from Sinsa Station all the way to Mokdong and all I got to do was post this single thread. Battery drained like crazy the whole way too. |

Kt has such shiny customer service centers. I see where their money goes. Do we really need a person who is paid to take the next-served tickets out of the machine and give them to you? |

I dunno... I prefer this to the half-assed, lazy workers with overpaid ceo's that I had to face back in the US |

I'm not talking about the worker's attitude. I'm talking about spending the money on hiring them for useless tasks in the first place. Our cellphone plan rates are higher because KT needs to have avant garde sofas in the customer service center, and hire people to stand around most of the time.
As for overpaid CEO's, that's pretty much global. Except here, they seem to get away with far more, like creating billion dollar slush funds and assaulting bar workers with metal pipes. |

Please tell me what phone plan you had before coming here that makes kt comparably overpriced?
Since im from the states I cant speak for other countries... but smartphone plans are way better here without question. 55000 a month for 300 mins talk 300 msgs and unlimited data. Verizon is the last of the big 4 to get rid of unlimited data plans for non-business users. And before...it was still soft-capped despite advertising otherwise. I would contend its hard to find comparable rates anywhere...
Tacked on questionable fees (Verizon recently settled on a class-action lawsuit), dumb added fees like tethering, or ridiculous cancellation charges are some of the things that await me when I go back ㅠㅠ
Only thing I wish they had here were free nights &weekends but otherwise I cant complain. |

When did I say anything about rates being comparably overpriced, and when did I say anything about being from America?
All I said is that KT deems it fit to invest money in lounges and ticket handlers instead of upgrading their infrastructure. Wow. |

Unlimited Data plans are kinda moot when the network is so bogged down you can't DO anything.
It seems the only times the network doesn't lag is late at night or early in the morning. |

Just so you know, KT's "unlimited" is soft-capped as well. If you overuse during a month (somewhere around 5GB) they will bottleneck your data speeds for the remainder of the month |
