hey all,
this may be a dumb question, but if i break my contract on a F-4 visa, the school can't legally do anything to me right?
i work at a public school, but i need to break my contract because a better opportunity came up, and they need me to start right away.
i wont be giving them the 30 days notice as required in the contract.
i usually get paid on the 25th, will they pay me for the week's work or screw me over? (in which case i dont really have much to say since i screwed them as well)
advice appreciated, thanks~ |

If you are on an F4 then you are free to quit at your convenience without worry or penalty (as per the labor law).
They may try to screw you for the week of work since payday but if you really wanted to fight it you could go to the labor office, file a complaint and get your weeks pay.

You will still have to payback your airfare if its been less than 6 months. You'll want to read your contract carefully. If it is a public school contract it will lay out everything in there about terminating early. If it is only one weeks worth of pay, I'd probably say forget about the hassle of the labor board. |
