So I am going to KL, Penang and Bangkok in January. I am booking a hotel in KL and in BKK because I am going to stay in the city and want a good spot. My question is Should I pre-book a hotel in Penang? I want to stay on or near the beach and/or in Georgetown area.

Is it going to be busy there or can I just find something when I get there? Also any actual hotel recommendations in any of those three cities would be great. not hostel, but not more than 70 a night

I know both of those sites, in fact I use agoda already. My question was to anyone how has been there around Jan-Feb. Will it be so busy that I need to book in advance? It is the mid-point of my trip and I want to maybe be flexible with the dates

Balzor, whenever I go to Penang I never have any issues with hotels. You can book them on a site like hotels.com ahead of time or just check in when you get there. Last time I stayed at a hotel in Georgetown called Citadel that was perfect. It was also next to a bar that looked like it catered to foreigners yet the area did not feel overly touristy. The beach was maybe a 15 minute taxi ride away as well. I think it cost me around 80USD a nite, and this was via checking in at the counter. Look it up on hotels.com, it's got quite an excellent rating for the price. Plus you can get rooms for 60USD a nite if you do it online.
