Hi, I'm sorry if this has been asked a million times before but I can't find any clear information about documents you need to extend your visa. I came to Korea 10 days early so my ARC/VISA expire before my contract ends.

I know I will need:

30000Won
ARC
Passport
Signed contract showing end date
application

But, what documents do you need from your school?

Thanks!!!

You don't need to pay. When the time is near, bring the contract, passport, ARC, and e-ticket to immigration to extend, also fill out an application form. You can extend up to 30 days for free after you finish working.

copy of the school's business registration and the letter of guarantee (school is your guarantor as your sponsor).

Thanks. I won't have an e-ticket because I'm planning on renewing my contract for another 6 months. I just need to wait until December after my evaluation for the official word.

Do you think I would need to extend my ARC now (contract ends Feb 28, Visa expires Feb 19) and then go in again to extend for another six months (March 1-August) if I get resigned?

Also, the "letter of guarantee" I'm assuming doesn't have a specific format. Would it be something like, "We guarantee that _______ is our employee", some phone numbers, an address and a signature?

for a working visa extension, you'll need to pay 30,000 won. i did the same thing back in september.

-official letter from school
-contract with date clearly showed
-passport
-ARC
-30,000 won (those stamps that you buy there)
-application form

Your "visa" dates (from your passport) are irrelevant. Your ARC expiry date is the one that counts.

You can only extend your ARC during the final 60 days of your current status of sojourn (so you can extend your stay up to 60 days prior to expiry).

IF your ARC expires on Feb 19 then you can do the extension anytime AFTER Dec. 22 and prior to the expiry of the ARC.

Thanks for the information. I am still uncertain what the letter from my school is supposed to include. It would be nice to know even if I can't extend yet.

Immigration has a standard form. They can fax a copy to your school if they need it.

What about if my contract expires before the school semester finishes? Can I extend the ARC to allow time to pack my stuff and leave the country?

Seems like it would be stressfull to be teaching my classes on the last day of my contract knowing that I needed to be out of the country that night.

Is there another thread about this?

Yes, you can get a FREE (NOT allowed to work) extension from your local immigration office by showing your passport, ARC and ticket out of Korea.

They will extend your stay until your ticket (up to 30 days past your ARC expiry).

You can do it any time within the last 30 days of your ARC.

What happens if you are canceling your contract early but want to stay past your last work date?

i.e I have worked at the same place for 2 and a half years but don't want to stay to finish the third.

I tried online but it said you must be within 2 months of ending your contract

quitting early you have 2 choices:

1) go to immigration with your boss - cancel your visa and you will get 30 days to leave or find a new job.

2) leave Korea, hand in your ARC and return - you get 90 days (6 months if you are Canadian).

Ah shucks, my ARC date is 3 days short of my contract finish date, but those last 3 days are on the weekend and a Monday so it might not matter if they let me leave on Friday instead of Monday.

What happens if my ARC expires the 22nd of Feb? I can't renew until the 25th of Dec, but I'll be out of the country until a couple days before my ARC expired. If I show my ticket out of the country, can I renew before the 60 days?
