So my school is fine, but I have decided I want to go home for personal reasons after being here for 15 months.

I had thought I would wait until after 6 months, because typically after that you don't have to repay the flight money. However, I looked over my contract and it doesn't specify the 6 month rule. It simply says that ending the contract would require me to repay the money. Are there any sources that could help me go around this so I don't have to pay back the money?

I don't want to do a run, I want to give them the notice per my contract and help them to get a replacement. I just want all my money! (And yes, I realize this was an issue on my end for not putting that in the contract at the beginning..)

You can ask nicely. That's about it.

There's no law regarding this. You're pretty much out of luck. Maybe you can strike a deal, being extra helpful in finding them a new teacher or something. MAYBE they won't mention repayment at all. But it's up to them.

So you've been at the same school for 15 months? Your original contract was a 12 month contract correct? If you fulfilled the 12 months then the terms of the flight reimbursement should be fulfilled as well.

Did the school give you a round trip ticket or any extra bonus at the 12 month mark for completing the contract and renewing?

Reasonably, you shouldn't have to pay out original incoming airfare if you completed your 12 month contract. It should say something along the lines that the terms of the contract are fulfilled. Some terms being the flight reimbursement.

If you made a typo about the 15 month statement and your contract states that you have to repay within 12 months. Then yes you are stuck repaying. And you should repay, because that is what you agreed to. 6 months is becoming less and less the standard and in fact I'd say its getting close to 50/50 for hagwons to offer that after reviewing contracts in the sticky above.
