You think weve evolved past the point of killing as a species?
Turn on the news or look on google earth at villages that have been burned to the ground in Africa recently (for example). It happens everyday. Its as much a part of life as craping and screwing.

And think about the consequences of all the crap you waste everyday in your life or if you eat an animal - you think thats morally better than killing? Maybe in some skewed western thinking it is.

ignorance has become an excuse for everything these days.

At least I am being honest (with myself if nothing else), Im not sure that makes me black hearted.

You aren't being honest with yourself.

You can never know until you do it. Then you can claim what you would happily do or not. When you speak to enough war veterans you learn that doing it because you dislike someone is not human nature. Doing it out of necessity or particularly powerful propaganda and so forth (but that's going into the very depths of philosophy and psychology people are yet to understand) is indeed human nature.

I'm being honest... I don't WANT to kill anyone.

Without trying to be crass or belittle your comment globtron, Im not talking about forced genecide or execution or anything else a soldier has to witness or experience, I know that isnt pleasant. I think youre right, most people dont know how they would feel if they had to kill someone.
Im talking about being very practical about death. If youre practically minded, its surprising what humans are capable of doing.
If I were put in a room (for example) with a needle of poison and the yorkshire ripper before he comited his crimes, Im pretty sure without a shadow of a doubt (knowing a moral obligation) that to inject him, would kill him, I could do it at the risk of upsetting his family.

And to the other poster (the one who claims Im black hearted for my comment).
Being willing to kill another human (in a given circumstance) isnt the greatest crime that mankind can commit in terms of either ethics, morals, principals or inhumanity to mankind or nature.
Everyday we are personally responsible for quite a large amount of suffering and can quite happily go along with that as long as we dont have to think about it.
I happen to think that (ignorance for greed/personal benefit) inst worse than taking a baseball bat to some shite head (Im speaking metaphorically here by the way) who is consciously making the world a worse place with no regard for human suffering or the negative effects of their actions.

There are many circumstances when one person has to take the life of another and it has been rationalised or at least given the support of the majority of that society.
For example assisted suicide, abortion, the death penalty, ordering the shooting of an armed man who has hostages or even putting your dog to sleep. Etc.

Really, you could argue each case that it is immoral (or to refer back to the title - 'black'). But every time there will be a counter argument. So I would put to you that killing certainly isnt in black and white terms - wrong.

Its a question of morals.

This is a big can of worms...

Maybe they're a sub-culture of goth?

Goth would go ok with the uniforms at my school (grey suits), as long as it was an understated goth and not some kind of heavy metal type goth.

I really wish I could meet these freaks everyone keeps talking about. I need more friends.

I'm not a dark person, but I've never encountered death of a person I really cared about in my life so it is hard for me to have the proper emotional reaction when people tell me sad stories and the like.

Yeah, It's definitely not black and white.
If it was, neuroscience would be out of a business.

and then theres 'EMO'S' (who we all know mean 'emotional', theres no icon for yawning).
Stephen fry summed them up perfectly when he said;
There are differences with clothing and music but the biggest diiference is that Emos want to kill themselves - Goths want to kill everyone else.

This thread needs to be cross-referenced with the staring threads.

Staring is bad.

"Hey check out these freaks!"

Haven't you all seen a goth before? I've been seeing them since 1992. Get over it.
