This will be my second E-2 visa in korea after completing one full year with no problems. The consulate in Toronto has been terrible this time around, they don't reply to emails, asking me for documents they already have, and they even lost my return prepaid envelope to return the apostiled degree and CRC. What the heck is going on down there? I live too far away, this would be much easier if I could deal with them in person.

Anyone deal with them lately?

My husband and I are just in the process of getting our visas through them and they called today to ask for additional transcripts... despite the fact we have already sent them there for the degree confirmation, and to Korea to get the visa issuance number. Of course, this was not listed anywhere in the documentation requirements for submitting your confirmation number and we weren't too happy about paying additional shipping. Not to mention we would have been screwed with our impending departure date if we didn't already have extra transcripts laying about. This is my oh, 6th visa through them and my husband's second, and really, not much has changed there. Rolling Eyes

I find the Toronto consulate to be really hit or miss. I find it's nearly impossible to get to them via phone or e-mail, so seriously, snail mail gets a quicker response. If you're really in a pinch for information, call the one in Ottawa, they are much more responsive and organized in my opinion.

Obviously, this is an on-going issue. I can see why so many people work
illegally to avoid going through all these ridiculous delays and steps every year.

You have had 6 E-2 visa's I think it's safe to say they don't need 47 copies of your transcript. If you have a visa issuance number, and all your documents have already been approved, why in the world would they need another one, unreal. It's starting to make me think the Universities are in on this scam and paying the consulates of different countries to keep asking for transcripts, degrees, etc in order for the University to make more money.

^^ haha. Made me chuckle.

I'm on my 3rd visa, and I gotta say, I'm pretty happy I lived within 2 hours driving distance of the consulate. I would actually take days off work just to head down there in person, rather than deal with them over the phone or via snail mail. It seemed like whoever I called to speak with always had different answers to any question.

But...seems like that's pretty typical of anything having to do with K-immi (consulates, immigration, etc.) wherever you go -whether inside or outside of Korea. The whole process is rather insane. Why, for the love of God, must I continue to submit the SAME diploma and transcripts EVERY YEAR for verification? Yep, still have the same grades as last year. Now we even have to send it to that KCUE company? Freals?

Hahaha exactly, no common sense at all at these Consulates. Like you said, my grades haven't changed since they approved my visa last year. Same Degree, same transcripts, it's just a money making scam for the Universities, consulates, shipping companies, etc.
