I work this sweet after school gig. Five hours/day for 3.2M. I have an F-2. I have been doing this for over six months now. Yesterday some dude asks me to sign papers to enable someone to check somewhere if I have a record. Funny thing is, the passport I use is from a country where I haven't lived since I was two-years-old. So this raises some weird questions. What happens if they query my original country and that country has never heard of me? I was born pre-computer era. Will they check the country where I originally came to Korea from? That was 1996. I suppose, in this situation, no news for them is good news for me. Or will this query just go to my local Korean police station? Again, weird. |

I'll take a stab at the first post...
As far as I know, in the U.S., a CBC only checks if there is a criminal record for an individual of that name.
If they can't find anything about you (even if there's no record of you at all) it should still come back clear. Again, I'm only mostly sure, and it may only apply to the U.S. |

I assume that Immigration is aware that you entered Korea on a passport from a country where you have not lived since a young child. If not, you might have problems with your F-2 renewal. |

You sure its to check if you have a record in another country and not Korea? My last hagwon job made all the teachers, foreign and Korean, sign a paper that allowed them to get criminal records check in Korea. Did you supply fingerprints? In Korea, you don't need fingerprints to get a CBC, but in the US you do, as far as I know. |

It is all a worry about nothing.
IF you have a passport you are in an immigration database as a citizen in the country of issue.
If you haven't lived there since you were 2 then there will be no criminal record in existence (as you would like) but you are still a citizen and entitled to all the benefits of said citizenship.
They have no way to check any other country.
It is all a non-issue as long as your passport is legitimate and current.
