I should be going to extend my visa for another year sometime in the next few weeks so I'll post how it goes. Basically it sounds like they just want you to say that you're working on it, and you'll definitely have to bring the new documents to renew your visa the following year.

Then ask from people who are renewing their contracts.

Here's a way to get proof for the CBC check. At least for the RCMP anyway.

The RCMP says you can contact them and ask them for an update of what's going on with your check. The promise to send a response back within 3 business days. Print the email off. That should suffice for Immi. At least, that is what I am doing.

i was told by my administrator that I wont need the FBI check until next yr. I renew in April. That is what immi told her. I just go along with the game until I decide to fold.

The situation ----

Renewing at the same college, from the UK, regarding degree

From my office assistant today "Immigration say you have to go back the UK to get your degree verified."

Anyone renewed recently? Can they confirm the degree issue? For brits - is it possible to get the degree verified at the embassy? Any other way to the long journey back to the UK just to get my degree vierfied?

How often does the apostilled CBC and apostilled diploma need to be renewed once you have submitted them?

Every time you renew?
Everytime you leave the country?
Everytime you change jobs?

Here is how the whole renewing process went down today (Jan. 12). Went into immigration with my passport, arc, copy of contract (renewing at same school), application, copy of paper saying school would sponser my visa, and a document saying something about the schools registration with the government. Handed it all to the immigration guy. He asked me if I had a background check, said I had ordered it and it was on it's way. Asked if I had any other documents and said that the apostilled diploma was also on it's way. He said ok. A few minutes later had a new date on my arc and was on my way.

We renewed our visas after Jan 1st. I am American, my hubby is an Aussie. We went in w/ money, contracts, school certs and ID. It took 10 minutes (with appointments), and we were not asked about our degrees (both were apostilled before we came 2+years ago) or new CBCs. My original CBC was not FBI. My FBI check is on the way. The Aussie check was, as usual, federal.

This was the easiest year ever, except for all the stress to get this (now unnecessary) CBC done. We go to Kimmi in Seoul, north of the river (Anguk), but I cannot remember the name.

I just got back from the immi office and renewed, and it was a totally painless experience. The girl at the desk was nice and quick and efficient, and my number from the ticket machine came up almost as soon as I took it and sat down...so no waiting. After she stamped the back of my ARC until 2012, she said next time, I will need the FBI check and the apostilled degree. I gave her my apostilled degree and told her it was from 2009 and she said it was OK and stapled it to my other papers...she barely looked at it...I guess when she saw the seals that was good enough. I told her I am waiting on my FBI check to be apostilled and asked her if I can bring it in to her when I get it in a few weeks, and she said yes...so I was SOOOOOOO HAPPY^^ Very Happy

Then I went and bought myself 2 calling cards they sell in there before I went home...AND the stamp on the back of my ARC is good enough for a multiple entry, so the airport folks will have to get caught up on this.....YIPPEE!!! Very Happy

I just called immigration. They are allowing you one free pass as long as you say that the documents are being processed. There is one catch though:
If you need to have any documents processed in that year of the waiver, you'll need to bring in the apostilled stuff. That includes if you lose your ARC and need to get a new one. So, you don't have to worry about rushing, but you still should get the docs and bring them in when you get them, unless you only want to stay one more year and are sure you won't need any help from immigration with anything.

I feel a lot better about this.
