in a nutshel,

im finished next week, old recruiter asking me to go to another hogwan tomorrow to cover co 2 teachers didnt arrive yet.
I said 'no' becasue as far as I know its illegal and dont want to rock any korean immi boats this late on etc.
they could potentially grass me up and not have to pay my severence.

shes saying its ok if I get a release letter for the day.

Is this feasible? Im not buying it?

whould you do it?

From what I have read and understood on these forums:

You can get an extension on your alien registration card for 30 days (I believe) but you aren't allowed to work during that time, it's more for packing up your stuff.

Your visa only allows you to work at the place of business sponsoring you (which I assume is not the school your recruiter is asking you to go to) unless that school allows you to take on a second job teaching which cannot pay more than the first. Maybe this is what your recruiter means for you to do? You need permission from your original place of employ for this and to fill out paperwork with immigration.

A release letter allows you to switch your E2 visa to another location that will sponsor you and terminates your original employ, but by the sound of it you are just being asked to fill in? Not a full time position?

It sounds like awfully short notice to be able to do it legally with permission from the place that is currently sponsoring your E2 (assuming they'd even allow it, though if its close to the end of your contract they may not care.) But at the same time if you are up in a week unless you are taking a full time position at this second locale and they are going to sponsor you why put yourself through the trouble?

My two cents (from a lurker and a not yet even over there person.)

sounds about right, I just think they dont want the hastle (or care about) going to immi and want me to put my neck on the line. If I didnt mistrust my korean hogwan director, id probably do it but he stands a gain a lot financially if anything did happen (eg severence, airfare, final paycheck etc.).
Saying that, Ive never known a korean screw someone just for a cash benefit when theres principles involved.
