Are there any Aussies applying for the EPIK 2011 March intake? What were your location preferences? What part of Australia are you from? |

There are not many Australians in Korea at all. Less than New Zealanders

It took me 8 months to meet another Australian. Think everyone is too busy with working holiday visas to Europe or the new working holiday for the US.
If you fly here, don't go direct, complete ripoff.
Jetstar to Japan is cheap, especially in a sale. Then a short plane or ferry over. Or Air Asia to KL, and then AirAsia from there to Seoul. |

Not too many here which I thought wouldn't be a bad thing, but it kind of is. It's nice to bump into like minded people from time to time.
Don't expect ANYTHING familiar, especially beaches and nature; come with an open mind. |

In my nearly two years with GEPIK I have met two Australians, both of them at training. We are not a common species in Korea, in Japan I met quite a few but not in Korea. |

It's a shame that you don't get many Aussies teaching in Korea. Not that I have a problem with the other nationalities but it would be nice to bump into Aussies ever now and then.
Well I'd better stock up on my Aussie flag t-shirts.
I also agree that flying direct is a rip off. I had a look at Korean and Asiana airlines and their prices are around $1300.00 one way. I'l be departing from Adelaide and the cheapest that I have found is Malaysian airlines going Adelaide - KL - Seoul for $700.00
Are you enjoying your time in korea? |
