|
|
Hey,
Quick question.
I am US citizen with an E2. I had a multiple entry visa and have came and went with no problems. I worked for a year and transferred my visa to a new job this fall. Immi put a little sticker listing my new school on a passport page and put new dates on the back of my ARC. So, I am wondering if when I go on vacation in January is my multientry visa still valid? They didn't change the big sticker on my passport. Do I need to do anything?
Thanks |

You'll likely need to head to immigration to get a new multi-entry stamp, or pay the fee for a single re-entry at airport immigration. If you plan on leaving the country more than once during your current job, a new multi-entry is the way to go. |

I read that the new rules for Dec'10 are that after 3 months into a contract you dont need any re-entry visa. My manager said the 3month rule doesnt apply - its never needed now. Need a bit of clarification on that one |

The new policy (coming into effect Dec. 15) is that REGISTERED foreigners (those with an ARC) will no longer require a re-entry permit to travel abroad and return to Korea.
IF your travel dates are close to that I would suggest popping into the immigration office at the airport to confirm that you do not need a new re-entry permit (your old one would have expired when your stay was extended).

i just saved you a trip to immi office. |
My visa started on June 23rd this year and ends on the same date next year.
I have a trip to China planned over christmas, and I was going to go and buy the multi entry thing I need (I'm British).
Does this new rule mean that I don't have to worry about that now? Or is this new rule in effect only for new ARC registrations? |

All registered foreigners....
and as a Brit your re-entry permit would have been free anyway. |

If you have an ARC you're fine, no matter your nationality.
Also, you're an American, so you don't actually need a Visa to enter.
If you're British or Canadian, the visa gets you into the country and gets you an ARC, as an American it gets you an ARC, because you only need a passport to enter the country.
But yea, show them your ARC with your passport and you definately won't have any problems, though as an American, you only really need a passport, with or without a visa. The visa just means you're allowed to get a job here
To Hakwonner:
Starting December 1, your ARC will act as your multiple entry permit, so just show them your ARC + visa/passport and you're golden. |

Are F-4 holders eligible?
It's nice to know we no longer have to pay 50k to get that permit! |

Hey all. I'm new to the whole visa lark for travelling (I'm Irish and travelling around the EU is therefore no problem!). I have a single entry E2 visa and was wondering what is the story if you are travelling somewhere, let's say Vietnam for a week. Does this single entry mean that once you leave you are out for good? What is the different between a multi entry and a single ?
Also does one need a visa for visiting countries as a tourist near Korea? Japan, China, Thai peninsula?
Thanks! |

You don't need a re-entry anything as long as you're travelling within the dates on your ARC. Your current S visa is fine.
As for your second question... I recommend reading up about the countries you want to visit. The visa situation is different for every country, but I'd say it's a good idea to understand the immigration policies of a country before you get there, no? |
