I'm a Canadian already in Korea trying to find jobs for next year. A few places I'm applying to said I already need to have my degree verified. I'm a little confused because I read in multiple places that only our employer can send our degrees to the KCUE. Is this correct? The KCUE is the only way to get them verified from here right? I have the original for both of my degrees but I'm not sure what exactly to do.
Can I send it myself?
Does my employer have to?
WTH is going on with K-immi? (as usual) |

The KCUE has stated that due to the demand they are not verifying any more degrees for some time. If that option is still unavailable then the only way to get them verified is to have the consulate in your home country do it.
If you are on (or will be on a E-2 visa) then you need the CBC as well. |

Thanks! Okay...so I have to mail it to Toronto then? Aiissshhhh!! I already sent away for my RCMP CBC. I'm just confused about the degree thing. It's madness to try and figure out all this stuff on your 4th E-2 visa. |

Will we still have to get our certificates verified every year?
Or is there finally a database |

It is the same process as sending the Notarized degree to the Korean Consulate as the first time we appplied?
As in, do we need to send along the contract, transcripts, NoA and Original?
Or can we just send them the Notarized Copy and a letter saying that we're in Korea and trying to get renewed?
Also, do we have to send them the RCMP CRC too?
If so, does anyone know how much money to send them? (The Toronto website still sites regulations from 2007! :O) |

I'm pretty sure we def need the RCMP CBC. Either way, I'm tired of hearing contradictary info so I'm just doing it anyway. I sent the $25 money order indicated on the website to the RCMP. Grabbed it from my KEB branch.
So if KCUE isn't accepting any more degrees, I have to mail my degree to my family I guess, have them take it to a lawyer for notarization, and then mail it to the Korean consulate? I didn't even think they actually verified it. In the past, they just looked at it for two seconds, and put a sticker on it. So much work! It's crazy. |

So... send the notarized degree and notarized RCMP CBC to the Consulate.
I'm taking this as end all be all
How much does it cost to get the consulate to stamp it I wonder? It sucks because my family lives in Windsor (4 hours south) so it would be almost impossible to have them go directly to the consulate... |

I'm not sure my word should be the be all, end all. Maybe somebody like Ttompatz or another knowledgable poster should give the final say. But, I'm definitely just gonna go ahead and get both regardless.
(Yah...I suppose I could make my parents go directly there, but i'd feel kinda bad. Woodstock is about 2 hours from the consulate with all the insane traffic on the drive down off Allen Rd.) |

It WAS $3 per copy for the embassy certification stamp (at least when I got my last batch done at the Vancouver consulate) a year ago.
Personally, I would send everything to the consulate (degree copies to be certified (get a few) along with your original and transcripts (they will ask for them before they certify the copies) and get them all stamped and certified then you have no worry about problems or individual immigration officers interpretations of the rules causing you to run in circles.
Same with your CBC.
Send your parents an extra $100 for the hotel and have them spend a night in the big city on you.
