|
|
I recently ordered a Canon 550D on Gmarket. I ordered all the pieces separately as they were cheaper that way.
Two different sellers (or the same seller under different names) cancelled my order after transferring the money and ordering all the parts from other retailers. So now I have lenses and batteries and a grip and no camera.
Never buy from 디지털 컴온탑 (Digital Comeontop) or 거성디지탈 (Go Sung Digital); they won't send you the camera unless you let them rip you off. They said on the phone you have to buy their overpriced packages, and their crappy tripods. Back home we call that a scam. |

So I wasn't clear about the money: I was refunded the cost of the camera. The battery grip and batteries arrived problem-free, but the camera order has been cancelled and refunded every time I order.
I understand that they would want to upsale, I get it, but you can't just cancel the order after the person pays and say, "no camera for you"... I can't even post a complaint (you can only do that for delivered products).
And the listing keeps popping up so I keep ordering, and I'll find out tomorrow if they've thrown in the towel and decided to send the camera. |

is there no one else selling that part?
and requiring someone buy a package to get a particular price is not unusual in the world of business. |

Contact gmarket themselves. They're pretty reliable about chasing defaulting sellers |

Yes, Gmarket will track them down and get you your money back. It happened to me with a mic I ordered, it took almost months to get the wrong one. I ordered a USB condenser, they sent me the non-USB model, totally worthless unless I bought a phantom powered mixer as well, and worth significantly less money than I paid for the USB mic. Long story short, Gmarket eventually tracked them down (it took another month) and got the credit card charge refunded.
Pay attention to the seller's ratings. I've always received excellent service from any seller with at least a halfway decent rating. If they have no rating, it's a toss up. |

the good thing is, i got the money back immediately when they cancelled. I can't get the money back for the cost of returning the parts that I ordered. It's not a huge loss but it's annoying.
I did contact gmarket and I hope they can convince the sellers to be less shady. And to the poster that said this is standard procedure, I think some several thousand people would disagree -- retailers that bait and switch, upsell or cancel are called out as frauds. http://www.resellerratings.com/ |

No one who upsells is called a fraud.
bait and switch isn't what happened here. Bait and switch is when you offer one product but then replace it with another.
canceling is one thing, but are you sure you read the terms on the page correctly? you haven't even provided the product page itself. |
