I got my Hep series shots as a kid. As someone upthread mentioned, I think it's required for school in the US. Since it was so long ago, do I need to get them taken again? or should I be good? Sorry if it's stupid to ask, but all my shots were pretty much taken care of during elementary school and so I don't know much about it all. |

Hep shots are not standard as childhood immunizations in North America and are almost never suggested unless you were in a high risk group.
The only way to determine if you need a booster or in fact gained immunity from previous shots is to have the blood test for antibodies.
If you are not sure, get the test done and get the shots when you get here. They are cheap enough at any small hospital (40k won each (or less) for the shot and booster).
Just avoid the "International Hospitals". They charge like US hospitals for the same service you get for next to nothing at the local one.

Thanks for this. I may have been confused about the series of shots, then. I'll have to go back and check my immunization card. Eeeks, I should really keep more informed. Thanks again. |

Having worked with intravenous drug users before i came to Korea, i was already protected against Hep a and b. Last year i went to Laos and decided to ask what i needed at the hospital. They gave me a couple of shots for Jap Enc, yellow fever, and 3 or 4 more that i can't recall, they also gave me a prescription for Larium. The cost: W60,000 for the injections and W27,000 for the Larium (one a week) tabs, which incidentally never made me feel ill.
It seems at $1,000, some one is pulling your plonker my friend. |

You can get Hep B shots at your local gu health clinic. 3400 won a shot. They may also offer Japanese encephalitis and typhoid for a minimal fee.
The international clinics at Itaewon had Hep A and B shots but more expensive (one was 30,000 and the other 70,000 won).
I got yellow fever and typhoid shots at the travel clinic here:

English-speaking staff. Make an appointment for the yellow fever shot (22,000 plus certification fees). You can get other shots and malaria meds as well. |

I'm a Canadian and I got Japanese Enchephilitis before I left for Asia. It was not covered by regular health care, and costs some outrageous amount of money (hundreds of $$$'s). I was lucky and had Alberta Blue Cross, which covered most of it though.
Anyway, OP: maybe that's why your bill is so high. |

Does anyone know where I can get a rabies booster shot? I got the initial injections done a year ago and a booster is required soon... |

I know you're a troll but...
Evidence?
Dying from the disease you weren't vaccinated for is way worse.
Are you going to tell me vaccines cause autism? |
