Seems to be getting a lot of attention lately after it pointed its finger at China, and now Russia.
For those not in the know, Wikileaks is a website run by a brilliant and mysterious man - Julian Assange - who, as an expert hacker, leaks loads of information - much of it being labelled 'top secret'.
Examples being that China are allegedly 'tired' of North Korea, and their childish behavior is no longer vital for them to bother protecting, should the international community attack it.
Also video footage of a US helicopter shooting down 12 civilians (two were journalists) for fun. Along with 400,000 documents on Iraq, print screens of Palin's E-mail inbox and so forth.
Anyway, What do y'all feel on the matter?
Is this a revolutionary time where governments need to realise that secrets are no longer useful, feasible or logical?
Or do you think what he's doing is a threat to society, provoking all kind of unnecessary havoc? |

The leaks have come at just the right time.
SK now have the green light to respond ferociously to the next NK provocation and even invade if they like. Just so long as they don't take american troops with them. |

To be fair, the journalists WERE meeting a group of armed insurgents (you CAN see the several AK47s in the video) and the crew had no reason to believe civilians were present.
If you lived in Baghdad, you might be happy to see a gun-wielding pack of thugs gunned down.
To answer the poll... I was with them on the Afghanistan and Iraq documentation, but now Wikileaks is just walking into a high-stakes poker game and showing one guy's hand to everyone. It's kind of a douche move that doesn't seem to have achieved much. It seems pretty clear that they won't pull a Gulf of Tonkin event out of their hats.
I just wish it will end some of the "U.S. has complete control of everything, everywhere" conspiracy foolishness. |

Don't know why governments want his head on a platter? They should be busy plugging leaks and up their security instead of going after the guy. If there aren't willing people handing over sensitive information there would be no problem.
If they catch him there will be other Julian Assange type people that will do the same thing. All they need is lack security or a willing guy to hand them juicy information. |

it's just symbolic. Julian looks like an effeminate evil mastermind that is laughing it up at the world government for being beneath his superior intellect. haha.
I'm sure the governments are doing everything you said |

If citizens having access to the information required to make valid political decisions is anarchy, then I suppose I'm an anarchist. |

Hah, yes, the word anarchy was a kind of ... stop, think, whatever decision, knowing that you would all get the point.
I find it an interesting twist in the plot, that he's currently being harassed about his sexual abuse case in Sweden.
To reply to someone, he doesn't actually do this alone, he is the founder and leader, but in actual fact, thousands already help him hack away and just hand it to him on a silver platter. It's how he has so many thousands. It's clearly quite easy to hack into the biggest government locker rooms. |

I think it's pretty interesting, but I don't know if it's a revolution. Politicians have been leaking things to journalists for their own purposes ever since newspapers were invented and good investigative journalism has a history of exposing juicy secrets. It just seems that here in the information age, we can access an unprecedented number of secrets, so if people don't want to be exposed for their stupidity, they should mind their p's and q's. |

So Wikileaks has been killed from its original server - EveryDNS, due to all the cyber attacks its getting thanks to the recent attacks on government secret files.
However, The wikileaks man isn't stupid, and he has spread his website around on different domains like some kind of virus spreading over the internet. The main domain, from a French Ip is redirected straight back to everyDNS, which they have yet to remove again.
Looks like the guys mocking them. I personally really don't want this man to lose. Like the guy above said it may not be a revolution per se, but at the least it's an eye opener for those who need them opening. Especially with all the recent attention. |

All the secrets, no matter whom have been mentioned, are from American sources now. Just to be fair, it'd be fun if Russian and Chinese sources got leaked as well. But then, Mr. Assange would be drinking radioactive tea served by FSB. |

How can the truth be considered terrorism?? I think the government is more in the wrong in lying to people on a daily basis and the sad part is most people trust everything that comes out of the governments mouth even with all the past lies revealed. |

It's just comfortable to believe. You can sit back and just absorb.
This Assange guy knows this, and he's taken decent measures to counter the inevitable 'No! Stop giving it away!' attacks.
I suppose it will never make a long term change unless he can truly reveal something that affects us all, rather than stating how the USA consider the UK a paranoid state. People are far to accustomed to just, whatever-ing.
I mean this stuff has happened before. Get enough hippies to moan about climate change and look at the world now. 80% of all news is based on climate change and reducing emissions and saving the animals. It brought a joyful tear to my eye at one point.
And again I go off topic. Keep focussed, Andy. |

It's like a hollywood movie, I tell you.

he gave an interview to Forbes magazine, posted online this week after the chat was recorded at an undisclosed London apartment. The Australian native has cut and dyed his hair again to avoid detection, and promised that his site's rage-inspiring and ongoing upload of U.S. State Department documents was only the beginning |

Assange has been laying low for several weeks now, staying with friends, using credit cards owned by others or paying in cash, canceling public appearances at the last minute or sending others in his stead. |
And so forth. |

Exactly. They need to fix their leaks, not attack the guy who published the leaked information after it had already been leaked.
The smear campaign against him is just unbelievable. |
