Hey guys, I'm looking to get a tattoo and just had a consultation. I want a black and gray piece about the size my hand and half. I want a good amount of shading and detail, along with a few words. I'm planning on getting it on my left side, around the love handles. The guy didn't tell me the exact price but he said the minimum would be 800,000 won. This was a little more than I expected and was wondering if that's the going rate in Korea. Also Korea is a non tip country but I was wondering if that extended to tattoos as well. Any information would be helpful. Thanks. |

it all depends on where you go and who you see. some guys overcharge because they're well known. i'd suggest going to a few places. i got a decently sized tat, about the size you're talking about. it took 7 hours, 2 sessions, black and grey and he only charged me 400k. he was pretty well known too..... (shim from shimtattoo) but he moved to europe. a friend of mine got one considerably smaller, about the size of a hand. she got charged 500k. but, she also went to apgujeong to get it done. |

I went to a place called Tattoo Times out in Sinsa. The artist's name is Jay B. I dont know much about the scene, all I know is that he's got talent and I really dig the pieces he's done in the style I'm looking for. But also, I'm sort of a penny pincher. I wouldn't sweat a 100,000-200,000 won because this is a tattoo I'm talking about but I feel 800,000 is pretty steep. The reason is because my friend recently got work done from a different artist at the same shop. He got a 3/4 sleeve of some intricate work and his came out to 2.2m. What I'm looking for is fractions smaller but the prices don't seem to match. Also I should mention that the guy I want is the head artist for the shop. They haven't given me a final price, they said they'd do that after he sketched it out. I'm not sweatin it too much because I'm more than willing to pay for quality but I also don't want to feel like I'm getting hustled. |

there's a guy in konkuk who is technically good, just not good at designing stuff. if you know what you want already, i could give you his info. i would imagine he'd be cheaper. |
