This is a Fender P-bass knockoff (probably). It stays Fender Stratocaster on it, but I bought it in a flea market for 50K, so I doubt its authenticity.

It might have bad pickups, too. In trying to fix it, I ripped out a couple wires accidentally, and now I"m giving up on it. It's yours if you want it.

I'm in Hwagok, Gangseo area, western Seoul.

PM me if you're interested (I don't check the forums that often these days.)

This item is back on the giveaway market. I scooped it thinking I might use it to practice my (nonexistent) luthier skills, but haven't got the time and it's just sitting here taking up space.

It really is a bass that has "stratocaster" in gold on the black-painted headstock! Laughing

If I had the time and inclination, I'd start by trying to re-set the neck (never done it before), as it's in at a rather forward angle that's beyond what you could fix merely by tweaking the truss rod. Also, the nut is broken like an old man's molar, the pickups are heavily oxidized and he gave me half the electronics in a ziploc. That's how you get 'em too.

As an alternative to luthier practice, might be good set on fire for that video shoot you've been planning.

pm or post; for pickup in east Seoul

I would love to have this but I'm near Daegu. Are you coming this way anytime soon?

If the previous poster doesn't take it off your hands, I'd be happy to. If you live somewhere I can get to on public transit, I'd be happy to come pick it up. (I'm in Itaewon, with free time at the moment.)

I've done this sort of work before- my plan would be to have a look at it, and if I can turn it into a working bass with not too much investment, I will. Then sell for whatever I spend on materials. If this works, it'll be great for somebody- figure new cheap pickups and pots, and somebody gets a working bass for $50 or so.

I can set or shim the neck, but if the neck is actually shot, warped, or otherwise not "set-able" (no way to know till I see it!) its probably not worth investing in a new neck. In that case, I'd probably paint it up for some sort of installation art. Maybe the sign on somebody's bar? Or a cool wall hanging? Who knows...

To my inexpert eyes, the neck looks OK, just set poorly.

I PM'd the other guy with my address but he hasn't gotten back to me-- first come first served! I'll email you forthwith. Smile
