Now there is actually no direct proof of what I stated so boldly, but with no crater to show any supposed meteor strike, there isn't that much else you can use to explain it.

Hot damn, Japan was throwing nukes at Russia in 1908 too. There isn't much else you can use to explain it.

It's obviously conspiracy theory BS, which prompted my first post.

However, despite your insults, I decided to Google it again. I came up with this.

Feel free to apologise any time.

Sorry.

But no, It's just a going theory. I wasn't trying to prove I was correct (hence saying I should have stated it in a less factual way) I was simply stating that you were wrong to immediately assume I know absolutely nothing about anything, when in fact I read about this in a book, which was supposedly an informational travel book about Australia by one of my favourite authors.

And that is why I call you a dick and stand by it.

And the other post after, as I said - There's no proof as to what happened that day.

A massive strike on Seoul would cripple the South Korean economy, much as a hit on London or Paris would be devastating to England or France.

As South Korean and American naval forces are now conducting live fire exercises, it's possible North Korea may choose to take this as provocation, and, with the new rules of engagement, the possibility of escalation increases.

I don't believe anything's going to happen, but if I was outside the country considering whether or not to come work in Korea I might think twice.

Rebuilding happens quickly. Germany and England were subject to constant air raids and still managed to keep a war economy going. A one off strike by NK would not be as devastating as advertised, assuming there was no use of incendiary/chemical warheads.

To say nothing of the wisdom of firing off all your ordinance to kill at best 50,000 people (probably more like 10,000) and blow up a Face Shop and COEX.

"Congratulations sir, you've just enraged the entire free world, made it impossible for China to back you, depleted our ammunition, lost 70% of our in-range artillery to counter-bombardments and airstrikes, and hit nothing of military value. In fact your blowing up of Itaewon is probably a force multiplier for them. Any more plans sir? Maybe send 100,000 men through one of our tunnels?"

Yes. That's why taking out Seoul (or a large part thereof) is not a way to win a war: it's a deterrent to invasion.

Any westerner here who is saying that SK is weak for not fighting back harder is living in a dreamworld for the following reasons

1/There are about 5000 NK missles aimed at Seoul.
2/The SK Korean currency would seriously devalue, leaving many of us out of pocket in a big way.
3/Anyone who thinks war is in any way beneficial for anyone is a moron (apart from low bred scum who financially make money out of war).
4/We are actually living here and have friends living here.
5/The vast majority of us would be trapped here while the war went on. If you think your country (including the USA) would evacuate you in a timely manner, then you are sadly mistaken.
6/The SK economy would collapse in the short term
7/ The Korean people do not want to lose their standard of living and who would.

Personally, I just make sure I've got enough money off shore within easy access (credit cards) have enough money in K banks for a few months of comfortable living, without having to work. Rely on Koreans being economically and Politically savy enough to know its a lose lose situation for them.

So now there's reunification talk.

http://beta.ca.news.yahoo.com/south-korean-president-says-unification-north-korea-becoming.html

It's not completely surprising, but it is pretty amazing how quickly things change.

I wouldn't want to be here for a war, but reunification would be a different story... I'm not saying that it's going to be a smooth transition, but it would definitely be something that I'd like to witness... and I wonder how long it would take for them to open everything up so that we could go to get a basic idea of what was going on up there...
