Hi all,
Could someone familiar with tokyo tell me which hotel on the tokyo list of this chain will be best placed for sight seeing/touristy crap in tokyo:
http://www.toyoko-inn.com/eng/hotellist.html
Doesn't have to be slap bang in the centre, I'm happy to use the subway and the hotels might be a little cheaper a bit out of the centre of things.
Also, is it incredibly expensive usually to get shuttles from the said hotels to narita airport?
Thanks v much |

I have a soft spot for the Shinjuku Kabukicho location since it's located close to Shinjuku station and is in a neighbourhood with lots happening all day. There will be Christmas lights over at Times Square for a holiday feel. |

hmmm, that's much more expensive than the other toyokos and the hotel isn't as new as the others. Any other locations on there seem decent? Doesn't have to be totally central, I'm willing to subway. |

Thanks for that mate, good advice.
I'm thinking of going with the Otsuka one. Is there anything right on that area worth seeing? |

I don't know about major attractions in Ootsuka but Ikebukuro is just one station/a short walk away.

It is not out-of-the ordinary to find something special about most areas in Japan so if you feel like a walk I encourage it. You'll probably run across some shrine or temple.
Also Toyoko hotel features are fairly standard so a newer one will look fairly similar to an older one wherever you are in Japan. |

I usually stay at one of the Ikebukuro ones (there are 2). They are less than 5 minutes walk from the station and near a nightlife area if you want to go out drinking and stuff. From Ikebukuro it is easy to get to most of the tourist places.
If you opt for staying at Ikebukuro and don't have too much luggage the best way to arrive from the airport is to take the Keisei line to Nippori and change to the Yamanote line. This is the chepest train option and if you can get a rapid train doesn't take too long. |

When I was in Tokyo I stayed in the Asakusa neighborhood and loved it. There were markets, shrines, subway, and this river tour thing. It was overall just a cool area. |
