My wireless keeps shutting on and off on my notebook.
I have a wireless router, but this problem hasnt occurred on any other computer/phone etc..
Most of the time I have to manually turn the wireless on and off on my notebook to re-start the connection.
Any idea what the problems might be? |

| power settings? is the laptop plugged in at the time or when you're running off battery? if you're running off battery and have some power saving thing set, it might think your connection is idle and shut it off to conserve battery. |

is this a new laptop? if it is, check them anyway. Some laptops defaults are set for power saving even when plugged in.
If this is an old laptop and it's just started doing this, it could be a sign of hardware failure, though usually they just fail outright. They don't struggle into death. |

You might be able to get a replacement, but depending on age it might not be easy. Your alternatives might be to buy a USB wireless device that would essentially replace the other one. have you installed anything recently that might interfere with it? |

My GFs notebook has some Intel wireless card in, its a slightly old model and its absolute horse shit. Her notrebook is running XP, I don't know if thats part of the problem, but it's the flakiest slowest connection you'll ever find, no amount of updates old/new drivers would fix it.
My solution? This: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-077-EX&groupid=46&catid=1600&subcat=
Its tiny, just leave it plugged in all the time and worked straight away in even XP with no drivers, onboard is now disabled, zero headaches. |

I installed Windows 7 a couple of months back, maybe thats the problem.
I used to run VISTA without any problems before. |
