|
|
My folks are coming to visit me in August, and I want to get them out of Seoul. They are interested in seeing some of the more scenic and out of the way areas of Korea. No mountain climbing, just hanging out in lovely surroundings. Especially we are looking for some interesting rustic traditional bed and breakfasts and homestay type places in nice rural areas. Anyone got the knowledge?> |

I have heard Yeosu is pretty nice, as Indytrucks said. Are we talking out in the sticks completely, or small cities and towns? How far are you looking to go out of Seoul? Kyoungju seems like it'd be cool to show off to the folks too. |

And just how long have you been in Korea? Although your ignorance comes as no surprise to me considering how you only recently admitted to having wathched your first Korean film in what, like seven years here?
Can you use chopsticks, by the way? |

Tamyang! Great idea! The bamboo forests are really pretty. And I always liked Ddang Kkeut in or nearby Haenam. This point as its name suggests, is the most southern point of South Korea. There are some crowds in the spring and summer but I have always found being near the ocean to be a nice experience. |

Just off of Anmyeondo, at Boryeong, is an island called Sapsido.
Very nice. Nice beaches. Cottages. Raw fish galore.
Anmyeondo is cool, but super crowded during nice weather and the weekends. |

Geochang, close to Jirisan national park, beautiful area, 1 hour from the west coast and some beautiful beaches. If you are looking at coastal areas, Donghae through to Sokcho is great. Donghae has Dutisan with a plethera of temples and waterfalls. Have a great time with the folks. |

Kimje is a rural area. Just avoid the video shops.
A drunk police officer gunned down a video shop owner in Kimje, North Cholla Province, early Tuesday morning following an apparent quarrel, police said. His wife, identified by her surname Lee, was also shot, but her injury is not life threatening, according to police.

Thanks y'all. To clarify, yes, I'm looking at getting right out into the sticks, not small towns unless they have something special like Kyunju. But it's important that there are nice bed and breakfast places, or at least some kind of cool accomodation.

Buddy, I'm in love with you, when can we get married?
You must be thinking about someone else, I haven't been here 7 years, more like 3, and I've never talked about what Korean films I have or haven't seen. |

Heuksando. You can take the ferry there from Mokpo. Nothing but a couple of little fishing villages, and a buddhist monastery...monastary..er..place. Apparently you can hike around the entire island in a day if you're energetic enough. And yes, there are some yeogwans and minbaks in the two towns. |

still bro, that's a long time to be here and not know a few sights.
i recommend hyeonchungsa, but the problem is that there's not an awful lot else to do in the area.
someone else said danyang; that could be interesting too. watch out for the penis shop, though. |
