HAHAHAHAHA!!! First, Toronto elects a right-wing mayor, now this.

The Liberal Party is a complete and utter joke. Historically, the governing party does poorly in bye-elections; but time after time, Harper has consistently been stealing Liberal seats.

Looks like Canada is going Conservative BLUE and the Liberal elites in downtown Toronto can do NOTHING to stop it. The common man has spoke!!!

Thank god the US president isn't a republican, otherwise Harper would bend over for them and smile.

Are you implying they haven't already benefited Canada? What's our other option, the socialist coalition? Have fun with that.

As for benefits of having the Conservatives in government, let's see.......
Less meddling in provincial affairs
Lower taxes
Less regulations
Deficit elimination in 5 years
Less trampling on personal freedom
Electoral financing reform
Accountability reform
Potential for Senate reform
A stronger armed forces
Tougher sentences for violent criminal
Stricter immigration controls

Might as well say instability is the way to go....

The reality is a Conservative majority government would be good for the markets and good for policy-making.

Wildbore is apparently part of Conservative PR. I think Mises has illustrated throughout this thread why the Conservatives aren't ideal.

The bolded ones made me laugh. None of these have happened/improved with any government in Canada... Ever.

Unfortunately Mises hasn't offered any viable alternative. What other option do Canadians have? Pro-third world immigrant Ignatieff/Dion? Western-European anti-Alberta socialist Jack Layton?

Harper can "rock out" to boot !

To name a few, Federal marginal income tax brackets over the past ten years have been gradually increasing. (so we can earn more and pay less tax.. granted, the Liberals also partook in this) Conservatives also support: more transparency from First Nations; an $8 billion industry. Abolishing the Canadian Wheat Board so that farmers can sell their grain to whoever the heck they want. Letting my grandpa keep his gun in his back shed. Lowering the GST. Limiting the power of kangaroo Human rights commissions. Canadas corporate tax rate was also cut in 2010 to 18%, on its way to 15% in 2012. These are just a few off the top of my head. Basically Canada is devided into: those who work, and those who want something for nothing. Given the choice, when people are paid to be poor, they stay poor. ie: Third world immigrants and people living on first Nations have discovered that they can live very confortably on the dole without ever considering going to work. Government is the problem; not the solution.

Yet the middle class is still disappearing.

Should be the other away around, no? Shouldn't the Federal government, who every year jacks off all over the requests of the First Nations maybe be a little more transparent in regards to how they deal with the issues? Actually, don't get me started on this topic, not at all.

This helps everyone. For sure. Laughing

How about cutting the taxes for the people who make under 20,000 and jacking it up for those who make over 175,000? What? Doesn't line your pockets? Ah I understand.

This is a ridiculous statement. A generalization as broad as this negates anything in your argument. You realize there many reserves where there is no drinking water, no medical facilities, right? The plight of the First Nations is deep. It isn't as simple as "They are lazy and drink a lot."

I really liked the governing of the most recent minority government. However, I can't trust the conservatives with a majority. Actually, I don't like any of the parties or their leaders. None of them have shown me that they deserve a majority. Having minority governments helps keep the power in the electorate. A few screw ups it's back to the polls.

Ideally I'd like them to introduce some kind of proportional representation, because right now I don't even want to vote.

There probably isn't one. Harper and Iggy are very weak.

I have a better idea: how about we abolish the INdian Act and treat all Canadians as equals? Most Canadians marry and have children for the joyous loving virtue they offer, not because children = a paycheck. Indian reserves are communist entities, which is why they're operated so poorly. These socialist policies coupled with paying people to reproduce results in Canada's highest incidences of FAS, crime, diabetes, sids, aids, unemployment, etc, on reservations and among aboriginal populations. I'm not a racist: check the stats. But it's not the First Nations' faults: the blame rests on trudeaupian socialism and the Indian Act. Government is rewarding failure and proliferating despondence and a rapidly reproducing third-world segment of Canadian society.

DOn't get me started. Ever been to Sheshatshiu? Ever been a social worker in northern Manitoba? 15% of this province is First Nation, but this segment makes up 70% of the prison population. Babies' lives are destroyed before they're even born. This is because these people are PAID TO MAKE BABIES. BABIES ARE A PAYCHECK. THERE'S NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING -- THE GREAT WHITE MOTHER WILL GIVE US MONEY FOREVER. << This mentality results in third world communities right in the middle of Canada.

Right, and the one-plank platform doesn't last.

So then we add

-contempt for ethnicity
-contempt for science
-contempt for poverty

and we have something like the National Front.

and that's where you get making the amazing prediction that a down-turn is coming

Someone profiting off of it.

Let's listen...

because the world is about money first and everything else second.

Again, generalizing all these people is ridiculous. Keep it up, it makes you look really smart.
