I did an MS Ed in Online Teaching and Learning from Cal State Hayward in 2001-2002. Cost me around $5k, it's about double that now. They also changed the name to Cal State East Bay for some reason since then. I enjoyed the classes and now I specialize in Adobe software......altho I don't use it in Korea. I'm taking the CELTA in January and DELTA as soon as I can after that.

I'm doing one currently through Ashford University based out of Iowa. So far so good and it's fully accredited.

yes, it's the link you posted. it's an 18 month program, completely online without certification (so if i want to teach back home, I'll have to jump those hoops myself) for an MAED in Early Childhood Ed. It costs about 17,000 for the entire program, but I was able to get federal student loans to cover all of it. I think it helped that I was using a FAFSA from a year I spent in New Zealand where I made 50 dollars a week. PM me and I can answer more questions and get you in touch with my admissions rep if you want.

I'm interested in doing an online Masters too but it takes forever to go through every university to look for the details. I think it would be great if we could make a list:

University Name, tuition cost (for international students) and length of program.

Anaheim University. I can't speak first hand for it's MA TESOL program, but I have heard though variuos sources that David Nunan is well-reconinzed TESOL-(er)? in Korea. They also offer flexiable payment plans to those that have fincial need. Sorry for the bad spelling ( that is one of the sheer reasons I am keen on doing the MBA instead of the MA). I detest spelling and grammer. C'mom why bother with all that if you can just edit everything out on your computer, anyways? Wink EB

Nice. I appreciate this thread. There are a bunch of others around. I have been debating getting and paying for a second master's for a year, which is why I still haunt these threads.

Most discussed have been the University of Anaheim (17,000 USD as previously mentioned), University of Birmingham (http://www.cels.bham.ac.uk/programmes/distance/linguistics.shtml), their information lists them "currently?" at 7.200 GBP, which is converting to 14,221 USD at the moment (however, I think I remember it being quoted at more previously), for part-time over 30 months.

Also in Australia, Macquarie University, at 22.016 Australian (about 21,703 USD).

I am looking at the University of Massachusetts, http://www.umassonline.net/degrees/Online-Degree-Master-Applied-Linguistics.cfm, between 16-17,000 for two years.

But, at the moment, just by writing this post, I'm thinking that the University of Birmingham is looking very competitive, but I'm wondering if it can be done faster and if that is in fact the actual current price.

Otherwise, I'm thinking seriously about UMASS.

*In addition, I am looking at CELTA programs for the summer. Has anyone done a CELTA at the International House in Thailand?

Thanks for feedback.

Here's a thread that might be helpful (a lot of schools):
http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=176538
Also, you might want to search or post on the job discussion section of this website.

There are a few schools that are mostly distance but they have professors come in a while. I think University of Birmingham (UK) and Framingham State (US) are like this.
http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=149562

If you're looking at US or Canadian programs, check out the search feature of tesol.org.
http://www.tesol.org/s_tesol/seccss.asp?CID=1776&DID=9333

Most online masters do not lead to teacher certification so that's something to keep in mind. But it looks like more and more universities are offering online or distance options. The most expensive one I saw so far is the USC (U Southern California) which charges $43,000.
